On Saturday 26th January, the Rotary Club of Bracknell held a very successful Burn’s Night Dinner at the Flavell Suite, Sindlesham Court, attended by 80 people including District Governor, Gillian Pearce. The evening was memorable for the wonderful Bagpipe music of Alan Vaughan from the Reading Pipe Band, accompanied by Gregor Hosie, Drummer, a delicious four course Burns’ Night Supper, and Ceilidh dancing organised by Alan Davis. The Address to the Haggis was recited by Gerry Macdonald. Attendees were generous in the purchase of tickets for the Grand Raffle, the Bonus Ball Game and the Lemon Rolling Game.

The Burns’ Night Dinner was held in aid of The Gurkha Welfare Trust and is an annual event in the calendar of the Rotary Club of Bracknell. We will be sending £1000 to The Gurkha Welfare Trust as a result of this event. President Nigel Boshier thanked Dave  Donaldson, Sue and Alan Davis for organising the event and announced that next year it will be held on Saturday 25th January which is the actual anniversary of the poet’s birth.

My name is Ann Taylor and I am a member of the Crowthorne & Sandhurst Rotary Club.
I was lucky enough to attend your Burns` Night celebration. I had sooooo much fun! (I had two, TWO servings of haggis!)
Very well organized, ran smoothly and I got my desired prize of afternoon tea! Very pleased!
I just wanted to let you know that I have updated our website with some pictures I took at the event.
